American Indian Education, an anthology
of 30 articles from 13 volumes of the Journal of American Indian
Education, was published in late June by the Bureau of Educational
Research and Services at Arizona State University.
The 236-page soft-bound book sells for $5.00
(hardbound, $8.00) and is divided into two parts: education
and culture/ history. The articles were selected from all of
the published material in the 39 issues by the editors, and
are arranged alphabetically by author.
A feature of the book is inclusion of much
of the original art work by Larry Toschik, who was art director
for ASU's Bureau of Publications, and who illustrated many of
the covers and articles. Mr. Toschik furnished an original drawing
for the cover of the book. Diane M. Croce, also of Publications,
was graphic designer for the anthology.
The book's editors are: R. Merwin Deever, director,
and Philip G. Gianopulos, graduate assistant, both of BERS;
Willard Abraham, chairman, Special Education Department, ASU;
and Harry W. Sundwall, director, and George A. Gill, associate
director, ASU Center for Indian Education. The Honorable Robert
E. Lewis, Governor of the Pueblo of Zuni, wrote the Preface.
